Prior to joining BACS, Mr. Schürmann worked at Bofill Mir & Álvarez Jana (2008-2011) and at Cariola Diez Pérez Cotapos & Cía (2005-2008). He was also an advisor to the “Constitution, Legislation and Justice Committee” of the Senate, for the analysis, discussion and promulgation of the Law on Criminal Responsibility of Legal Entities. During the last decade, Mr. Schürmann has been recognized in his professional practice as one of the most outstanding lawyers in the areas of dispute resolution, criminal litigation and alternative dispute resolution in the rankings of Chambers and Partners, Legal 500, Best Lawyers and Leaders League. Furthermore, he has twice been recognized by Leading Lawyers as the most outstanding lawyer in criminal practice under the age of 45.
Professor of the Department of Criminal Sciences at Universidad de Chile. Visiting professor at Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez (Santiago campus). Mr. Schürmann has taught as a lecturer in training courses for the Public Defender's Office and for the Chilean Gendarmerie. He has also been a professor in the Master's in Law program, with mention in Criminal Law and in Business and Corporate Criminal Law, both at University of Chile, where he is currently a member of the Academic Committee.
Mr. Schürmann has been a speaker at conferences and seminars on criminal law, criminal procedure law and antitrust law.
Author of numerous publications in criminal law and especially in economic criminal law.
